Thank you for coming for our pizza party and prize drawings.

We had over 100 players who found Waldo in the indie stores with many families playing the game and having a wonderful experience.  They discovered lots of new indie stores they were unaware of in Portland. Many people made it a point to buy something in each of the participating stores:

"Black Cat Coffee has amazing homemade ice cream with honey from the Honey Exchange (another Waldo game player!) - who knew they had ice cream too!"

"We have been buying at least one item in each store we visit - makes the game more fun!"

"Thank you for hosting this scavenger hunt game - it's so much fun. This is the 4th year we have played Find Waldo in Letterpress bookstore."

Derek Lovitch came over to Meet & Greet with our customers.
They enjoyed asking about his birding tours all over Maine.
He owns the Freeport Wild Bird Supply with seed, optics, feeders and more!

We all enjoyed launching Paddling Southern Maine
with local authors Sandy Moore & Kimberlee Bennett.
Two of our customers were so excited to get this very useful, valuable
information about nearby waterways, they bought kayaks right away!
Thank you ladies, for a very fine Meet & Greet signing.

Meet & Greet with Tom Wessels who wrote
Granite, Fire & Fog: The Natural and Cultural History of Acadia

The only book that offers both a natural and a cultural history of Acadia National Park, on Maineís Mount Desert Island.
Tom Wessels, an ecologist, naturalist, and avid hiker, attributes the  park's popularity, a unique way in which earth, air, fire, and water in the form of glacially scoured granite, winter winds, fire, and ocean fog. All this has converged to create a landscape that can be found nowhere else.

In this beautifully illustrated book, Wessels invites readers to investigate the remarkable natural history of Mount Desert Island, along with the unique cultural story it gave rise to. This account of nature, terrain, and human interaction with the landscape will delight those who like to hike these bald summits, ride along the carriage roads, or explore the islandís rugged shoreline. Wessels concludes with a guided tour of one of his favorite hikes, a ten-mile loop that will acquaint the reader with the diverse ecosystems described throughout his book.

Waldo was hiding during the month of July. A good time was had

by all - the store employees, game players & their families!

The FIND WALDO game helps people to discover local independent retail stores and find out what good quality is right around the corner.

From a mother riding bikes with her 3 sons: "We are having a great time! We've been riding from store to store, bonding all day and they didn't even know it!"

From a participating gift shop: "The response to the Find Waldo game this year was excellent. We had far more visitors and a majority made at least one purchase, some far more. We've already had a couple of repeat customers who hadn't discovered our store before, who now love the place. Thanks for including us."

From a popular bakery: "We had fun with the kids and adults who came in hunting. Thanks for involving us again. We would like to participate next year - please let our owner know about the Find Waldo game."

      Author Signing with Paul Doiron!

Paul introduced Widowmaker, his newest Mike Bowditch, Maine Game Warden mystery.

An exhilarating new mystery.  See how Mike's responsibility level increases while maintaining his humanity, vulnerability and sense of humor, as he works with old friends to track down the killer. The wonderful addition of Shadow, the "wolfdog" adds much to the book's appeal for our mystery-loving customers.

We especially like his descriptions of the rural Maine with the down & dirty characters as well as those who truly care about their neighbors and keeping our beautiful state and wildlife protected from harm.
