Letterpress Books Used Book Policy
By popular demand we are now buying gently pre-read books.
Buying is by appointment only and you can bring one (1) bag or medium-sized box at a time. Please contact us at (207)747-4232 or [email protected] to schedule an appointment.
We will need up to 30 minutes to evaluate your books, so please allow an appropriate amount of time for your appointment. The evaluation involves checking the condition of your books, as well as our stock levels and sales history for each title, and generating your credit. Please feel free to browse the store during that time. Any rejected books must be taken away with you.
In exchange for your books, we offer about 25% of the original cover price in store credit, based on condition and our inventory needs.
You can use your credit on the same day or save it for later use. When using your credit, it can be used to cover half the cost of your new purchases. Any unused credit will remain on your account and does not expire.
For example: If we give you $15.00 in store credit for your used books and you wish to make a purchase totaling $25.00, you may use $12.50 of your store credit and pay the remaining $12.50 with cash or a credit card. Your remaining credit of $2.50 will stay on your account for later use.
General Buying Guidelines:
We are looking for gently used books that have been published or re-issued within the last 20 years, particularly fiction of all genres, biographies, history and narrative non-fiction. Cookbooks, gardening books and children's books must be in near perfect condition.
All books being considered must be clean, with no water damage and no smell of smoke or mildew. They must not have underlining, highlighting or notations in the margins. Paperbacks must not have broken spines and hardcovers with dust jackets must have the jacket in good condition.
Books we will NOT buy are:
Travel guides, coffee table books, college guides or test study guides, text books, computer manuals or anything with a specified date.
We will not accept audiobooks, encyclopedias, magazines, Reader's Digest condensed books, CD's, DVD's or VHS tapes.
